Exploring the reality of mental health amongst men due to the pressures of wanting to look good based on what society and social media tells them.

We discussed what may be new about the story that we are going to tell, it's isn't so much that it is new, it is the fact that no one really talks about the stigma attached to 'looking good' can create a sense of insecurity and lead to depression, anxiety and suicide, stats show us that of male suicide is the biggest killer of men under 45 and there are a lot of people online that are promoting body image stereotypes which can contribute to low self-esteem, this is what we want to focus on and research.

Synopsis 
Men's mental health - The pressures and the struggles to look good and live up to the aspirational  images posted on social media, living in a world where reality tv stars are given a platform on Instagram to promote products to so call 'improve' your appearance but in our reality it's adding more psychological pressure.

Character profile/s
Reality star - Although the expectations may be high to get an insight of image from a reality tv star, Taz made a good point about it, on Instagram, there are older stars with not a big following who are speaking out about the pressures of needing to keep up a constant appearance, she said that it's these ones who would be easy to get on board with this project, so Taz is going to reach out to them and see if they want any involvement.

Parent or Family member of a younger male - I have sent out a message on Netmums, I have asked them to send me a short message about the concerns that they may have over a younger male family member who takes more time with there image than they do about anything else.

Experts - We will interview and speak with experts who feel like social media is affecting mental health in respect of body image for men and if they experienced any cases in which this has happened, is it a bigger problem that needs addressing such as the campaign for 'skinny' models online?

Proposed Locations and recce shots.
We discussed a few places in which we where going to look at, we need to have cutaways from our interviews so below are the following locations we want and a reason why:

• Holland and Barrett - Shot along the shelves of food supplements that are said to be good for 'inside' and 'outside' the body. Permissions would have to be made and we need to state that we are not promoted or are we dismissing claims.
• Brentwood Essex - Tanning saloons - Sugarhut - Faces - Gyms - Nail saloons, the reasons behind the area of Brentwood is pure because of the reality show - TOWIE - we want to see how the trend has transcended into the local area.  
• Erith - A charity has been set up for men with mental health issues and we have a contact who can shed some light on this subject,. We already have this contact so this will be in the expert category.
