LOCATION BRIEF

The premise of this project is to demonstrate and put into practice everything that we have been learning during the this first term,
We need to get into practise of:
  • Working with tight deadlines with tight parameters, in an unfamiliar location.
  • Using Skills of coverage 180 degrees.
  • Telling a story with pictures.
It should explore the theme of 'Change'

The script should allow for the characters to walk through/explore the landscape. To enable us to get as much practise coverage, story telling with picture and the 180 degree rule.

THINK:
  • Wide.
  • Close.
  • Atmosphere.
  • Genre.
  • Settings.
Comedy must also be taking serious.

We all have to be responsible for making it, we all have to appear in it and we all should have a focus on directing one of our characters.

INSPIRATION AND GROUP DISCUSSION.

I am working with Kelsey and Jack, when we was getting into our groups I did state that I wanted to work with one of the boys, as I haven't had the opportunity to work with them and find out what ideas they could bring to a project.

Jack pitched a comedy idea inspired by a short video we watched 'The way of life', it was an elderly lady being interviewed about her time living in Dungeness, she talked about how she had lived there for 50-60 years and no matter how hard people try to change the area it cant be done.

This sparked an interest with myself and Kelsey because 'Doreen' who was being interviewed was also quiet a funny lady, by her own admission she didn't get used to being a 'Dungenesser' until 40 years after living there.

We had the seed of an idea but now had to take the brief into consideration.

- Change.
- Atmosphere.
- Meeting.

We came up with the idea of having a Mockumentary as it seems un-likely that young persons from a rich area in London would just up and leave to move somewhere with restrictions of buildings and a set way of life.

We also thought about our shoot and the brief of all having to be in front of the camera which gave us the idea of 'what if that happened in real life?' having to turn up and a crew not being there, we bounced around some comical scenarios of a professional presenter being stuck in the middle of no where and having no experience in operating a camera but has to make do because there is no budget for a crew as well.

We brainstormed some title ideas and the way that we would like it shot, although it is going to be edited, we want to film it as if it hasn't been edited, so when we have our screening we want it to appear as a 'Blooper' show rather then a polished documentary.

The title of the screen play is provisionally called 'The Pre-edit'
The short is about a presenter of a re-location show, who has turned up in Dungeness and realised that he has no film crew, he has just been left with a camera and a boom mic, due to budgeting reasons he has to make do with what he has, he has no technical knowledge of the equipment and has to interview a challenging ex-reality show lady whilst trying to get a noisy local out of camera shot.

To capture the scenery and beauty of Dungeness in our 'Mocumentary, destination, destination' we will purposefully be changing the background in our shots but repeating the same dialogue. Whilst filming the presenter we will see what a tough predicament of being his 'own crew' is as well as trying to keep his professionalism as a presenter, so having the different backgrounds will demonstrate the comedy surrounding his tragic situation by using a detartrating backdrop, the more the presenter gets stressed out the more distressing the location becomes in the shot.

We looked at the images below for ideas for location shots, on the day we will determine the best shots.

The 'Change' has two different meanings, the character change from our presenter staring off professional but slowly losing his patients and the scenery change of the deterioration backdrop depicting his mood.
